Mouth watering and action-packed, there’s a fun filled menu of activities on offer at William Angliss Institute’s 2009 Open Day, Sunday 9 August.

Last years’ event was an outstanding success, with 3,500 people in attendance. This year it is expected to be even bigger, with a fantastic and diverse collection of interactive displays and demonstrations.

Prospective students, interested parents and curious members of the public are all invited to come along and get involved with the event, which runs from 10am – 4pm at 555 La Trobe Street, Melbourne.

Find out for yourself why, in 2008, 91.9% of all graduates found work or went on to further study within six months of completing their course. Witness first-hand the world class facilities and discover why 15,000 students select from the wide range of courses on offer at the Institute every year.

Information sessions throughout the day will provide a fascinating insight into the Tourism, Hospitality, Resort Management, Events and Culinary Arts courses and industries, with current students giving guided tours and specialist staff on hand to answer questions.

“Our Open Day is an opportunity for the William Angliss Institute to showcase what makes our Institute great. It’s our opportunity to show the fantastic facilities and opportunities on offer to students, both during study and in their ensuing careers. With an internationally renowned William Angliss qualification, what you are getting is a passport to your future. The sky really is the limit in terms of opportunities,” said Nicholas Hunt, the CEO of William Angliss Institute.

On the day, there will be plenty chances to sample the many culinary delights created at the Institute. Visitors will be taught to make the perfect cocktail, encouraged to decorate their own personal cupcake and experience the aromatic delights of the Coffee Academy.

You will have the chance to learn about the many wonders of the wine world by taking a ‘What the nose knows’ class. Why not have a complimentary massage or let yourself be dazzled by the onsite ice carving?  Also on the menu will be the opportunity to experience life under water with a specially set up dive tank demonstrating the very popular Dive Resort Program.

Fun interactive evens include a bed making competition, whereby attendees will be given the opportunity to test their own bed making skills against the industry standard of perfectly making up a single bed in just five minutes.

Brand new facilities will also be on show, including three new kitchens, a new demonstration area and the recently refurbished Angliss Bistro.
