Children at Ballarat’s Urquhart Park Primary School posed as Tassie Devils, to mark the launch of Spirit of Tasmania’s ‘Capture the Spirit’ competition.
The Ballarat Courier and WIN TV were on hand to capture the fun, as the youngsters larked about with a giant photo-board emblazoned with the iconic, endangered creatures.
The fun was all part of the ship’s newly launched search to find and reward Australia’s quiet achievers in the world of photography.
Included in the competition is a category specifically aimed at the under 12s and another that seeks to raise awareness around the plight of the Tassie Devils.
The ‘Capture the Spirit’ photograph collection will be displayed online, as part of a specially designed virtual gallery. The winning photographers will share in over $8,000 worth of prizes, with a state-of-the-art Canon 1000 twin lens digital SLR camera plus accessories on offer for each winner, plus holidays and accommodation packages for selected categories.
