Pesel & Carr were given a brief by Sail Melbourne and Tourism Victoria to create a social media campaign that would attract competitors and spectators to the first leg of the 2011 ISAF Sailing World Cup and show what Melbourne has to offer the world.
Our idea was to create an animated character that would tweet and blog her way through the lead up to and during competition week. ‘Vicky’ (Victoria) Boat was born, Sail Melbourne’s fun and fabulous ambassador. Vicky provided up-to-the-minute information, interviews and commentary via her social media accounts.
Fans, competitors and spectators alike were able to follow and connect with Vicky Boat on Twitter @VickyBoat.
Vicky also updated her blog on the Sail Melbourne website in the lead up to and during competition week here. Vicky’s blog has at present received over 1,500 blog views.
Ideally we would like Vicky to travel through the other six regattas in the Sailing World Cup, but for now she’ll be based in Victoria and keeping fans up to date with all the latest news from Sail Melbourne.
