Half Marathon Mission

Ten weeks ago now, I decided to train for a half marathon. A natural non-runner, I was sure that my half marathon mission would be an uphill battle. And I was right…

Willpower and determination were vital elements of my training programme as I gradually increased my distances from 5km to 10 km up to 16km. Excited, nervous and fearful were all good words to describe my feelings towards the impending race.

On Sunday I arrived at the starting line for Run Melbourne, presented by The Age, and I’m pleased to report that I managed to complete the entire 21.9 km run in the respectable time of 2 hours and 10 minutes. My efforts also raised $680 for The Australian Cancer Research Foundation.

The outpouring of support I received, in the form of donations to my nominated charity from my Pesel & Carr colleagues, clients, friends and family, contributed towards a sense of self belief as so many others appear to have faith in my ability to succeed.

A huge thank you to everyone for their support!
