You’ve heard us talk about the crimes of the Carlton Convicts… Amanda “Four-Eyed Felon” Cirillo, Rebecca “Rebel with a Cause” Giarrusso and Stuart “The Shark” Ayer, but we suppose you’re wondering how they went behind bars at Whitelion’s annual Bail Out at Old Melbourne Gaol on 25th May?
Well, the troublesome trio turned into a double act after “The Shark” made a lucky escape, while the other two were caught and locked up. They were stripped of their possessions, fed prison gruel and sent to the yard for exercise and work.
“Rebel with a Cause” said that “Bail Out was a real eye opening experience. Hearing from past offenders and people that work with Whitelion was absolutely fantastic and allowed us to get a first-hand account of how Whitelion help young people… the prison gruel was surprisingly tasty too!”
“Four-Eyed Felon” shared the views of “Rebel with a Cause”, and said “Working with Whitelion at Pesel & Carr is really special. We’re able to help this amazing organisation support young people in the community that really need it. Being able to go behind the scenes at Bail Out and feel what it’s like inside a cold prison cell and being confronted by guards is something that will stick with me for a long time.”
While behind bars, the Carlton Convicts ran into another gang , crossing paths with members of the Deakin Melbourne Boomers. Maddie Garrick, Ezi Magbegor and Monique Conti were sentenced for dribbling violations and an offensive foul.
After experiencing a mock interrogation, they were granted bail having raised funds to assist Whitelion in continuing to support young people.
The two accepted and enjoyed their freedom with a celebratory drink after their release.
