Award-winning journalist and strategic communications expert.
Marcus is an award winning journalist who has covered politics at the highest level and understands how influence is exerted, and how to guard against it.
Across the BBC, The Guardian, the ABC and TRT World, Marcus has worked at senior editorial and production levels, including as Senior Producer at TRT World and Commissioning Editor at The Guardian. He covered the Brexit campaign as a BBC News correspondent and has reported on numerous state and federal elections in Australia, as well as politics across New Zealand and Turkey.
He also knows how campaigns work from the inside, having led major national advocacy and policy campaigns for the National Farmers’ Federation. He approaches that work as a professional, not a partisan, the same impartiality that has always defined his journalism. He is not, and has never been, a member of or affiliated with any political party.
It is this combination, the reporter who covers influence and the practitioner who understands it, that suits the work of protecting an electoral process from undue influence. Marcus holds a Baseline security clearance, with NV1 vetting underway and expected before the campaign begins.
