Whitelion and AFL team up for youth at risk

August 31, 2010

Where will footy be in ten years time? Will soccer take over? Will more new teams come into the equation? How will controversial issues like drugs in sport continue to affect the game? As footy fever grips Australia, Whitelion is preparing to host its annual AFL Finals Series Luncheon, with the future of the game being the hot topic.

Now in its tenth year, the fundraising event will take place on Thursday, 9th September at 12pm at the MCG. Whitelion is a not-for-profit organisation that supports youth at risk. The charity works to build meaningful relationships and create opportunities that enable highly vulnerable young people to reconnect with society and reach their full potential. Over the years, many young AFL footballers have become involved with the organisation as role models.

The topic 'Future of Footy' will be discussed by a panel of experts that includes North Melbourne's Drew Petrie, AFL legend Stan Alves OAM, North Melbourne's CEO Eugene Arocca Herald Sun sports reporter Jackie Epstein and AFL National Talent Manager Kevin Sheehan. The afternoon will also include a two course meal, auctions, a raffle and an appearance by stand-up comedian Damian Callinan as his hilarious alter ego, faded AFL star Troy Carrington.

Tickets are priced at $125 per seat or $1,200 per table of ten. Dress code is business attire.
